My Story

The short hand story of how I got to this space with yoga and teaching it, all begins with the practices of Meditation. I originally came to Mediation as a means to surrender and the wanting to change. Seeing that the patterns I was continuing to put myself in were no longer serving me in the way they once did. As time went on I found myself being re-introduced to the asana practice of yoga and eventually, now here, teaching it with the highest gratitude.

My teaching style is influenced by the art of slowing down and doing it in a way that allows you to tune into the subtle messages of the body. Creating the space for integrated movement that is not only supportive and playful, but nurturing and spiritual. Through my passion for words and metaphors, philosophy, breath work, meditation, and silly jokes; I encourage each student to tap into their experience and mindfully shape-shift in a way that feels nurturing and sustainable for their body. Ultimately this is their, your, practice and I gratefully get the honor to move through it with you, with the intention that it not only feels delicious in your body but expansive on all levels.

Yoga Journey

Over the past few years of this teaching journey, since my 200hr in 2015, I have continued to explore many facets of yoga; via workshops, events, and various trainings. Recently I have studied with Yoga Medicine and Tiffany Cruikshank where I have completed certifications in; Yoga & Pain Science, SI Dysfunction, Yoga + Chinese Medicine, and Yoga Therapeutics. In addition, I have connected deeply with Yin Yoga, which I now have over 250hrs of knowledge, training, and experience with and ever expanding as I continue to assists and co-teach Yin Yoga Teacher Trainings with my teacher, Reanna Costa and offer Yin Teacher Mentorships.

Inspiration

I have seen your offering in the past and heard from the experience of others the beautiful community and energy that it has created. What I appreciate most is that this festival creates a space that feels welcoming, supportive, and inclusive for all - throughout all walks of life and personal experiences. Offering an inclusive and accessible space for healing is something that is dear to my heart and something that I strive to do in my individual work as a yoga teacher and energy practitioner, as well as a studio owner at Tacoma Yoga.

Reaching for

Honestly, I hope to give more than take away. While every experience organically offers a "medicine" or wisdom when we walk away, for which I am so honored and grateful. My hope is to be of service for others. To give them a nurturing space to breathe here for just a moment.

Yin Experience

YIN YOGA + LIVE MUSIC + GENTLE ASSISTS

Slowly unravel and surrender to the nourishment of your breath and the quiet power that is Yin Yoga. Yin yoga allows you to explore the levels of depth that are connected to the inner workings of the body, mind, and breath. By allowing our bodies to linger in stillness, poses may be held anywhere from two to ten minutes, we begin to stimulate and target the deeper connective tissues in the body and activate our parasympathetic nervous system.

During these 90 minutes together we will move in resonance with the breath and the live classical music that will fill the space. During this journey we will slowly shape shift in a way that provides the spaciousness for you to explore the deeper layers of self that linger beneath your surface. Gentle assists and light touch with essential oils will accompany this experience (optional).

WHAT TO EXPECT

Expect to receive a brief overview of yin yoga; physical benefits, and why the breath plays an essential part for this practice. Following this, we will begin to move through this yin practice by the guidance of Shawnda Noone and live music by Rosemary Ponnekanti. You will leave this experience feeling spacious in your body, mind, and breath. Dress cozy, bring a mat, water, and a journal if this suits you and join us for an experience like no other.
